Recognised for their decorative quality, sash windows consist of two panels that slide up and down allowing the window to be opened and closed from both the top and the bottom. A Sash hook fastener is required to secure the top and bottom sashes or panels together on what is called the mid-rail. Sash lifts are fitted to the bottom of a sash window, usually in pairs and are used to assist in the lifting and closing of the bottom sash.
